The Delaine Heritage Trust was established in 2015 by the Delaine-Smith family. To establish and maintain a museum for the benefit of the public dedicated to preserving, promoting and displaying in perpetuity the collection of heritage buses, photographs, documents, artefacts and memorabilia of Delaine Buses of Bourne, Lincolnshire, one of England’s oldest independent bus operators for the purposes of education, reference, research and general interest.

The origins of Delaine Buses can be traced back to 1890 when the family introduced horse-drawn vehicles to take people to local markets. The first motor bus was introduced in 1919 and daily services from Bourne to Peterborough, Stamford, Spalding and Grantham were all established by 1923. Today the 30 strong fleet based on the original site in Spalding Road, Bourne, Lincolnshire is managed by the fifth and sixth generation's of the Delaine-Smith family and the core business is still based around some of the original services, with the ethos of quality, continuity and reliability is as important today as its always been.

The Delaine Bus Museum was officially opened in 2019 and the centrepiece are the seven members of the Delaine Heritage Fleet, with all but one spending their entire working lives with Delaine and at least one of them being built in each of the last five decades of the 20th Century and the Millenium year
